Zach Wilson was excited to see his fiancée, Nicolette Dellanno, on the field during Sunday’s preseason finale, where the quarterback led the Broncos to a 38-12 victory over the Cardinals.
The couple, who got engaged in June, hugged at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver, as seen in a video shared on Dellano’s Instagram Story on Sunday.
The influencer also reposted a video of Wilson’s 46-yard touchdown, when he connected with Broncos wideout Brandon Johnson with 6:22 remaining in the fourth quarter.
“Unbelievable,” she wrote in her Instagram Story.
Wilson proposed to Dellanno with a stunning oval-cut diamond ring during their vacation to Italy in June.
The future Mr. and Mrs., who are fairly private about their relationship, were first linked in June 2022 when they were photographed at a Yankees game together.
Wilson finished Sunday’s game by going 16-for-25 with 251 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in relief of Jarrett Stidham, who played the opening series.
Bo Nix, the Broncos’ No. 12 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, won the starting quarterback competition in Denver.
Stidham, now vying for the role of Nix’s backup, said he’s “very disappointed” about losing the starting job.
Stidham started the final two games last season after the Broncos benched Russell Wilson — who was released and then signed a one-year deal with the Steelers in March.
Zach Wilson landed with the Broncos the following month after a third disappointing season with the Jets.
He took over for Aaron Rodgers last season after the four-time league MVP suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in the season opener against the Bills on Sept. 11.
Broncos head coach Sean Payton said he expects to keep Wilson, the second-overall pick by the Jets in 2021.
“We have enough money. I understand the question. We feel comfortable with those three quarterbacks,” Payton said. “I think I have told you already, but I see the three of them making it.”
Wilson said he was excited for Nix and praised Payton’s decision.
“I mean, I don’t think it was a surprise too much, obviously. Right? I think he’s had a great camp,” Wilson told reporters Sunday.
“… I really believe they’re putting him in a good situation. I think Sean has done a phenomenal job… I’m excited to see what he can do and I think he’s ready for it.”
The Broncos open the regular season at Seattle on Sept. 8.
