The Rangers have hired a new goaltenders coach, and it is someone very familiar with the organization and former goalies coach Benoit Allaire.

After working with the Rangers the last six years, Jeff Malcolm has been promoted to replace Allaire, The Post’s Mollie Walker is reporting.

Allaire, scaling back his duties in his 20th year with the franchise, is still with the team as its director of goaltending.

Malcolm has spent the last three years as the AHL Hartford goaltending coach and has worked closely with Allaire in developing goalies on and off the ice.

When Allaire was on medical leave during the 2022-23 season, Malcolm filled in for him.

He was with the Rangers organization as a player from 2013-14 to 2016-17 and led Yale to a national championship in 2012-13.

The new Hartford goaltenders coach will be Brendan Burke, the son of longtime NHL goalie Sean Burke.

Malcolm is stepping into some rather large skates.

Allaire has been a Rangers staple for two decades, a major part of the development of former star Henrik Lundqvist and current star Igor Shesterkin.

A portion of the team’s dominance in net is credited to Allaire, who was named director of goaltending by general manager Chris Drury in June of 2021.
