Bills fans maybe had a little too much fun in the snow Sunday night as Buffalo defeated the 49ers, 35-10.
Fans tossed snowballs onto the field multiple times during the game, including once during a 49ers kick and another when Christian McCaffrey was leaving the field with a serious injury.
As McCaffrey was walking toward the tunnel with a 49ers staffer, at least one snowball could be seen whizzing by San Francisco’s star running back in a video posted by NBC Sports Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco.
He didn’t seem to react to the snowball.
The other instance happened as 49ers kicker Jake Moody was lining up for a 33-yard field-goal attempt in the first quarter when a fan attempted to snipe the ball with a snowball while the ball was sailing through the uprights.
A snowball could be seen flying toward the ball, though it never looked like it connected, and even if it had, it didn’t appear to disrupt the path of the field goal.
At the time, the kick gave the Niners a three-point lead over the Bills.
The snow produced other fun moments though, including Bills fans tossing snow into the air and flinging some snowballs around after Ray Davis scored Buffalo’s first touchdown.
Orchard Park had been hit by roughly two feet of snow by Sunday morning and local officials had been warning football fans about the treacherous conditions.
“We do not expect the game to be postponed or anything like that. The game will go on. [We’ve] had games that are colder … [But] people need to be prepared. It’s the first real cold of the season. We haven’t had anything like this all year,” said Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz, per CBS Sports.
