Anthony Davis closed one door and opened another on Monday.

Davis had his time in Los Angeles come to an end over the weekend when he was part of the blockbuster trade that sent Luka Doncic to Hollywood and the big man to Dallas.

The 10-time NBA All-Star and 2020 NBA champ addressed the trade for the first time on Monday in a post on Instagram where he reflected on his Lakers tenure.

“6 years ago, I came here with the vision to win a championship, and I will never forget the moment we did!” Davis wrote in the post. “The business of basketball is a business just like all other businesses… I am grateful to the city where my first ring came from, grew my family and friendships and I will always have a home here. My family and I thank everyone who made this place home and we are still thinking of those that lost their homes in the fires.

“To my teammates: our friendships go beyond a locker room and a jersey… LA will always have a special place in my heart. Every great story has an exciting next chapter… Dallas- Here we come!”

Not long after that the Mavericks posted a video on their social media platforms of Davis and Max Christie, who had also been a part of the deal, on a private jet seemingly on their way to the Lone Star State.

“Mavs fans, it’s your boy AD here with Max,” Davis said. “We’re excited to be a part of the organization, a part of the team. We’re gonna do something special with y’all. We’re excited and we can’t wait to get on the floor and support the team and do what we do best. Go Mavs.”

The shocking trade has created a stir of emotions around the NBA and from the Mavericks fan base.

Davis heads to the organization after it traded one of its most beloved players.

This will be Davis’ third team of his career that he’s played for since he was drafted by New Orleans first overall in 2012.

Davis has been averaging 25.7 points and 11.9 rebounds per game this season.
