I’m just truly, thankful, thankful, thankful that I’m a Buffalo Bill.”
Hamlin returned the pick 19 yards before he was tackled to the ground as the crowd at Highmark Stadium roared.

During a halftime interview with ESPN’s Laura Rutledge, Bills head coach Sean McDermott called the moment “amazing.”
“Damar’s been amazing. What a journey he’s been on,” McDermott said.
The Bills made the most of the interception as well, scoring on the ensuing drive to take a 27-3 lead.
“Damar Hamlin’s return to play may be the best football story this decade,” former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III wrote on X. “He was dead on the field. Now he is the starting safety for the @BuffaloBills and just caught his first career 1 interception. YOU LOVE TO SEE IT.”
Hamlin had suffered cardiac arrest during the Jan. 2, 2023 game against the Bengals after he collided with Bengals receiver Tee Higgins.
Medical personnel rushed to his aid and administered CPR on the field, and Hamlin was taken to a local hospital, where he spent more than a week.

In an interview with The Post ahead of his November return to Cincinnati, where the scary incident occurred, Hamlin expressed gratitude just to be alive.
“Man, I’m thankful for life. Honestly, I’m thankful to wake up, brush my teeth, have a meal. Take 10 deep breaths. I’m thankful for everything,” Hamlin said. “Life is bigger than just ball for me and always will be until the day that I go, but to be able to do what I do at the highest level, I’m an extra level of thankful, you know.
“I’m super thankful to have my normal life back. But I’m extremely thankful to be able to continue to compete at the highest level and do what I love to do.”
